Passford House is an exceptional modern house, constructed to a high specification, built by the present owners and completed in August 2006. Kingsdown is a small hamlet, situated to the east of Bath, nestling in the hillside above the Box Valley (Box Tunnel -- Isambard Brunel) with breathtaking views both toward and around Bath. The proprietors, David and Margaret, opened the doors of their home to paying guests in October 2008. It is their intention to deliver a standard of excellence ; so frequently advertised and yet so rarely found. Everything about the house is large and each bedroom is presented in immaculate condition. The decor, the furnishings and the linen ooze quality, ensuring a most comfortable and enjoyable stay. The bathrooms are lovely with plenty of hot water and soft towels. The twenty foot square kitchen, which leads into the gabled conservatory, includes a kitchen table which is laid for breakfast when there are only two or three guests at home ; in busier times the formal dining room is laid up and our guests enjoy their breakfast in the company of other guests. However, should you prefer to dine alone, just say so!! n.b. David prepares the breakfast -- its very very good. Passford House is ideally situated to enjoy the magnificent City of Bath, with all that it embraces and has on offer. Other places, such as Bradford on Avon, The National trust village of Lacock ( did you watch the B.B.C. production of "Cranford " - most of the village and street scenes were filmed here); and of course Castle Combe are within easy reach. For " the super fit --a fast trot down the hill to Bathford, a gallop along the river bank, cross over to the canal towpath and you soon emerge in Bath ,close to The Recreation Ground -- the home of Bath Rugby; or you can walk down the hill and catch one of the frequent buses into the city centre -There are many renowned and expensive eateries in and around Bath for that special occasion. Likewise there are many local hostelries that offer " fine fayre " at reasonable prices; such as The Crown at Bathford; The Swan at Kingsdown,The Longs Arms at South Wraxall and The Bear at Box, to name just a a few. PLEASE NOTE> :At present, we do not have a credit card facility and ask to be paid with cash or by cheque. We also ask guests to take off their shoes upon entering our home; - so bring your favourite slippers!!! Eagle House is a fine listed Georgian Manor House dating from 1750 set in a peaceful village just 3 miles from Bath. The house is grand but the atmosphere is informal with the accent on personal attention. Many rooms have far reaching views over the Avon valley. There are some large family rooms, one sleeping up to 5 people, and children, sharing their parent’s accommodation stay free. We are ideally situated for Bath, being only 3 miles away. Theres an excellent bus service - 3 an hour in to the city and 3 back out - and ample private car parking within the garden and out of sight of the road. Many guests enjoy the fact that breakfast goes on to 10.00 am and it is possible sometimes, by arrangement, to organise breakfast even later. Guests appreciate the fact that they are welcome to bring their own alcoholic drinks and consume them without charge , either in their room or in the lovely drawing room with its 16 foot ceiling and real log fire (in winter months). We are always happy to provide ice and glasses if required. Although we do not serve lunch or dinner we have two good establishments in the village both within easy walking distance and many more just a few minutes away by car or taxi.
