The George Inn is a beautuiful 15th century thatched pub set in the heart of picturesque Chardstock, right on the the Devon, Dorset and Somerset borders. It was originally a Church or Parish house where locals would gather after services to taste the beer brewed by two church nominated wardens.Evidence for the age of the building can be seen in the graffiti in the snug and lounge bar windows where the names and initials can be traced back through many generations of local families. the pub still maintains many original features such as old oak and linen fold panelling which is said to be one of the finest examples in the country.
