Also the lounge on the first floor is ideal for you to relax in for Pre-dinner drinks and afterwards for coffee and liqueurs. Grange over Sands is known as the Lake District Riviera due to the gentle climate resulting from its sheltered coastal position. The views across the bay are spectacular and ever changing. The local fells provide stunning scenery and are easily accessible. Numerous local walks start close to the Hotel, such as the Hampsfell Nature Trail, the Cistercian Way, and the Cumbria Coastal Path. For the more intrepid there are guided walks across Morecambe bay and the Cumbria Cycle Way. These can easily be combined with the excellent public transport by road or rail to provide a convenient return journey. There are also two local golf courses, both welcome non-members. For those wanting to spend time relaxing in the town there is the lovely promenade, attractive ornamental gardens, a wide selection of tearooms and many interesting local shops.

The Royal Oak is a small family run Inn with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and enjoys a busy life all year round. Situated in the very heart of Bowness on Windermere. The Royal Oak is literally a stones throw from the Bowness bay piers, Lake Windermere and only a few minutes walk from the many traditional craft and gift shops. Chef-proprietor Chris Blaydes (Master Chef of Great Britain) has re-sited the renowned local restaurant Jerichos into the Waverley, to become a restaurant with rooms. Set in a beautiful, detached stone building circa 1870, situated on a quiet road in Windermere village with large private car park. The building retains many original features and is bursting with character. Jerichos now has a marvellous contemporary dining room creating a wonderful match of Victorian and modern styles within this beautiful building. Jerichos has been awarded 2AA rosettes in the AAs Restaurant Guide, and continues to be highly rated in The Good Food Guide, Hardens and Michelin. We have an extensive wine list and are passionate about our food and wine, a passion we hope to share with you. Built in the 19th century, the house was bought as a hunting lodge in 1888 by Lord Lonsdale, then one of the richest men in the country. The Willowsmere was built around 1860 as an imposing Lakeland family residence, it has been tastefully restored and renovated to a high standard and includes the luxuries that you would expect if staying in a fine English hotel. The Guesthouse has 13 en suite bedrooms all recently refurbished including new luxury pocket sprung beds and those little extras that make your stay a pleasant and relaxing one. There are 2 lounges for guests use and a large landscaped secluded garden where you can enjoy a drink from the well-stocked cellar. The Willowsmere has a large off road car park and is centrally located; 8 minutes walk from Windermere centre and train station and 5 minutes walk from the tranquil shores of Lake Windermere.
