A Jacobean Manor tucked away in its own secret valley.Hidden away in a wooded hollow just beneath the wild tors of Dartmoor, Lewtrenchard is a house virtually untouched by time. The original manor was mentioned in the Domesday Book, but todays impressive Jacobean dwelling, set in its own shrub filled gardens and surrounded by peaceful parkland, dates from the early 1600s.Over the years it was home to a series of colourful characters James Gould, one the earliest adventurers to trade on the Chinese mainland, Edward Gould the compulsive gambler and suspected murderer, and the Reverend Sabine Baring Gould, celebrated hymn writer and novelist who composed "Onward Christian Soldiers" at the desk that still stands in the front hall. This house, steeped in history, is large enough to be imposing, yet not so grand as to be unwelcoming. Stepping over the ancient slate floor in the impressive hallway one immediately feels very much at home.

The Fountain Hotel is a 16th century Coaching Inn with a beautiful courtyard garden and patrons car park at the rear. Situated on the edge of Dartmoor, the town of Okehampton offers great access to the national park and the numerous walking/cycling opportunities available. Our six letting rooms are all en-suite with colour TV and tea/coffee making facilities, and our cafe & lounge bar offer a wide variety of drinks, coffee, and food served throughout the day.

Collaven Manor is an elegant property nestled on the North West edge of Dartmoor, whilst guests can enjoy the secluded location away from the hum of traffic noise; guests still have excellent links to the M5. This beautiful small 15th century manor house, built of granite and covered in creeper, the hotel stands in four acres of picturesque gardens and paddocks. Once owned by the Hamilton family, and reputably associated with lady Hamilton. Passing down the drive guests can enjoy glorious views of magnificent countryside with the vista of Cornwall ahead and the ragged tors of Dartmoor towering behind. Sweeping lawns and flowers beds surround the hotel, a real sense of anticipation develops. All of the nine en-suite rooms have gorgeous views, are individually and tastefully furnished to a high standard and offer a very special comfortable atmosphere. For an extra special touch of luxury, guests can choose to spoil themselves with a night or two in the four-poster room. At Collaven Manor they take food very seriously, guests can enjoy a four-course dinner in the Hamilton Restaurant with the best of local and home grown produce. The menu changes daily with the emphasis on the best of British cooking, enhanced with continental and oriental influences. A selection of fine wines are available to truly complete guest’s satisfaction. A vegetarian speciality is always on the menu, and individual diets or simply just something for a special occasion can be accommodated. A separate beamed inglenook dining room is available for private parties, where guests can wine and dine in an even more intimate setting. The beamed residents lounge is a cool refuge from the heat of the summer and is a peaceful and relaxing setting in which guests can leave their cares and worries behind. In winter, log fires and full central heating add to the natural warmth of this lovely home from home, making it a welcoming and charming place for guests to be any time of the year. Within the lovely grounds guests can enjoy a leisurely game of croquet or bowls, take afternoon tea on the spacious lawns, enjoying the symphony of bird song and the buzzards soaring overhead. Close by there are several fine 18 hole golf courses. Pony trekking and riding on Dartmoor can be arranged, as well as fishing. Horse racing at Newton Abbot and Devon and Exeter are just 40 minutes away. From the granite tors of Dartmoor, to thatched cottages, to Exeter’s Norman Cathedral. This is one of England’s largest Counties. It has a delightful mix of scenery. Rolling countryside with small fields and hedgerows and picturesque scenes of churches on hilltops. Devon has majestic rivers such as Taw, Torridge and Exe winding through wooded valleys.

Lydford Country House is set in 8 acres of beautiful grounds within the Dartmoor National Park and has been welcoming guests for more than a 100 years. This 5 star establishment offers well appointed en-suite bedrooms, log fires in the guest lounge and genuine Italian cuisine, created by our Italian chef, in the garden room restaurant "La Cascata". Stables allow the horses of guest to stay at a small extra cost and dog baskets are provided for canine companions. With private access onto the "Granite Way" off-road cycle path you can hire one of our bikes as an alternative safe way to view the spectacular countryside. The historic village of Lydford is a jewel in this area of outstanding scenic beauty. To the north, just half a mile away, the high tors come right down to the village edge, while to the south the River Lyd winds its way through Lydford Forest. Lydford village has an interesting medieval castle and the nearby Lydford Gorge (National Trust) and White Lady waterfall is a must. Alternatively drive out to explore the Peninsula; the South Devon coast, North Cornish coasts, Eden Project, Exeter and Plymouth are all less than an hours drive away making Lydford House an ideal central location to explore far and wide!

The Half Moon Inn is well known, not just for the fishing but for our superb food, cask conditioned ales, well stocked bar and wine cellar, with wines from around the world to suit most palates. A magnificent log fire is a focal point in colder weather and the unique village inn atmosphere creates an ideal setting for our guests to meet informally and mix with the local people. You do not have to fish to enjoy a relaxing time with us, we extend a warm welcome to anyone who wishes to stay, from walkers and cyclists to businessmen and property hunters! The Half Moon has had visitors from all over the world who have experienced the atmosphere of a traditional English inn, and many have returned several times. All the rooms in the main building at the Half Moon are typical of a building dating back to the 16th century, with exposed beams, low windows and one of the favourites has a sloping floor. Here at the Half Moon we currently have 11 bedrooms, 7 of which are housed in the main building, with a further four in our purpose built annexe. We are very ‘pet friendly’ here and our annexe is perfect for those who wish to bring their dogs, as it offers easy access to our courtyard and parking. However dogs are restricted to the guest bedrooms and bar. All the main building rooms have been recently refurbished with new bathrooms, bedding, drapes and modern flat screen televisions.
