The Mildmay Retreat is situated on the old brewery site and is a barn conversion. It is accross the car park from The Mildmay Colours Inn where breakfast is served. The Retreat comprises of six en-suite rooms, including family accommodation which is on three levels and sleeps upto six. All rooms have been tastefully refurbished and all have independent ground floor access. The Inn prides itself on its friendly atmosphere and service, it is listed in the Real Ale Guide and features four real ales, including The Mildmay Colours bitter. It serves good traditional homemade food. There is a large function room which is perfect for parties, meetings or for celebrating that special occasion. This small friendly, licensed Hotel is one of Dartmouth’s oldest and most interesting buildings. It was originally constructed as a Tudor merchants house and would have been a welcome sight when the Pilgrim Fathers stopped off at Bayards Cove on their way to America in August 1620. The hotel is conveniently situated in Bayards Cove in the centre of this lovely town, with the market and main shopping area only a short level walk away. The cobbled quay of Bayards Cove is an integral part of the medieval heritage of Dartmouth and the whole area has a wealth of charm and character. The ambience of the Tudor merchant’s house has been carefully preserved and guests are sure to enjoy the unique character of the hotel and its thoughtfully refurbished luxury rooms, all of which have Sky, televisions and DVD players, and some also enjoy views over the water of the cove. During their stay guests can enjoy a light snack in our coffee house which is situated on the ground floor. We also have a comfortable self contained Suite that sleeps up to 4 people and 2 quaint cottages. The cottages are adjacent to the hotel and each sleeps 2-6 people and are self- contained. Well behaved dogs are welcome in the cottages. A court yard / garden is available for the sole use of residents to sit and enjoy the sun. We also have a small private car park . Our Restaurant / function room comfortably caters for between 20-80 guests (sit down) and we can offer a flexible choice of menus and a generous discount for block bookings of all the rooms.
