Nestling in the pretty village of Charlton Horethorne, the Kings Arms reopened on March 11th 2009. Welcoming, cosy, lovely garden, good home cooked food, attractive comfortable accommodation. We take pride in everything we do, in every pint we pull, in every dish that leaves our kitchen and in the way we present every room to our guests. Warm in winter with log fires. Cool in summer on the terrace next to the croquet lawn. Quintessentially English. The Kings Arms country pub and hotel is in the centre of Charlton Horethorne just in Somerset but only a couple miles from the border with Dorset, and three miles from Sherborne, Wincanton and the A303. It is owned and managed by Sarah and Tony Lethbridge who bought it in 2007 and have completely refurbished the building from cellar to loft – keeping the atmosphere of a traditional pub but adding all the comfort, convenience and facilities of the 21st century. The imposing façade of the Edwardian building has been retained but behind it everything has changed. The main bar, the snug and the small restaurant offer a traditional welcome with good English oak floors in the snug and the small restaurant and real slate in the main bar. And behind the bars and through the atrium there is the newly built main restaurant decorated in strong warm stripes of crimson, red and purple. Outside, the large garden terrace takes full advantage of the rural landscape sitting just below the Cleeve, as the hills behind the pub are locally known, and well away from the road, popular with walkers and perfect for a tranquil break from the city. The croquet lawn beside the terrace provides entertainment for onlookers and sport for those cracking the mallets!

The Coppleridge Inn is a family-run country inn & restaurant situated near Shaftesbury on the beautiful Dorset/Wiltshire borders in England. The main building is a converted 18th Century farmhouse set in 15 acres of meadow, woodland and gardens. The Lamb began trading as a public house probably as early as the 12th Century. By 1870 it was already well established as a posting inn that supplied 300 post horses for coaches going to and from London and the West Country. Dating back some 300 years, the inn started life as a pub in the 1950s. Now in 2007 the inn has been sympathetically extended and has four sumptuous en-suite letting rooms, the bar and dining areas have lovely old beams, log fires and a warm, inviting ambience created by hosts Peter and Helen Turner. Who have put their experience to excellent use in making the Saxon Inn one of the most appealing pubs for many miles around. Ringwood best and Butcombe Bitter are the regular real ales, joined by changing guests and all kept in tip-top condition - CAMRA Good Beer Guide approved of course. The food is another good reason for a visit here. There is a wide choice of traditional pub dishes featured in the A la Carte menu, supported by a daily specials board reflecting the seasonal choices and availability of fresh fish. The food is locally sourced and predominately home cooked by Helen and her excellent kitchen team. For the lighter appetite and for those in need of a quicker alternative there is a selection of Jacket potatoes and sandwiches. Food is served lunchtime seven days a week and every evening . Theres a separate dining area with a wood-burning stove in an impressive brick hearth.

Applehay Studio is set on the Dorset, Wiltshire border in a rural setting in the middle of a traditional picturesque village green. It is directly opposite a friendly village pub, which dispenses real ales and home cooked food. There are also many other eating establishments within a 10 minute drive. The Studio has a view of the village pond and is surrounded by many acres of common land, with walks and cycling from the door. It is an ideal rural retreat for a couple wishing to explore the area. We also have wireless broadband connection. We are 5 minutes from Shaftesbury with its famous Gold Hill, half an hour from Salisbury and 8 minutes from the A303. Sorry no pets allowed. This historic 400 year old Manor House, with its beautiful walled gardens are there for your use, there is an orchard, two carp ponds and a dovecot. The original house which is now a ruin is reputed to have accommodated Elizabeth I while she toured her realm.
