Tigh na Mara Hotel boasts an enviable location, situated within a stones throw of a beautiful stretch of unspoilt, sandy beach. This area features some of Scotland’s most spectacular coastline and, due to the influence of the Gulf Stream, enjoys a particularly mild climate. The hotel was acquired, in January 2003, by Ian and Dorothy Fisher, who extend a warm welcome to their “house by the sea”. Managed by their son, Neil, the hotel boasts a team of friendly, customer focused staff. The hotel offers seven en-suite rooms which have all been recently refurbished. For the comfort of our guests all rooms are non smoking and are maintained to a high standard. The hotel was recently inspected by Visit Scotland and was awarded a three-star inn status. Our restaurant focuses on making people welcome, comfortable and at ease. From our extensive menu you can choose a wide selection of dishes, created using finest local ingredients from the Scottish larder. Relax and enjoy an after dinner drink in our comfortable lounge area or venture to the public bar and enjoy a dram beside the roaring coal fire. During the warmer months our beer garden is popular and is situated at the back of the hotel. Set in lawned gardens with private parking, 20 yards from a shingle beach, and overlooking Loch Ryan, we offer quality accommodation within a hotel setting (since we do not have a licensed bar or provide evening meals, we are classified as a Guest House rather than a Hotel). Bedroom corridors and other communal areas provide a mix of antiques and modern design. All bedrooms have contemporary furniture, quality en-suites, dressing table/workdesk & chair, armchairs/sofas to relax and enjoy either the superb views or television with free-to-air satellite channels, and a well-stocked courtesy tray. Breakfast is served from 07.30, overlooking the gardens, the loch and the docking ferries, but for earlier departures, a tray can be provided with juice, cereal & filled baguette (please advise on booking). A licensed restaurant is available 2 miles away in Cairnryan, and there are a host of other eateries in Stranraer. The entire building is strictly non-smoking. Maximum stay that can be booked on-line is 5 nights. Check-in is from 14:00 to 23:30 (admission will not be possible after this point).

Family run, we are just 450 metres from the Cairnryan ferry terminal and a five minute drive from the neighbouring Stranraer terminal. Within a short drive are a number of beautiful gardens protected by the warm gulf stream that frequents the area, forest walks and nature reserves. A well known bird watching area it is just a few minutes walk along the shore to the bird watching area at Cairn Point frequented by many seeking a view of the King Eider and other rare seabirds. A period property, Cairnryan House was built in 1894 and retains many of its original features. All of our rooms are non smoking, en-suite, with deep pile carpets, centrally heated, with television, dressing table, hairdryer and a courtesy tea and coffee tray. Luxury Rooms have sitting area CD and DVD player. There is off-road parking for up to ten vehicles and guests are welcome to sit in our front garden, in our Guest Lounge which has leather sofas, internet access and Sky Sports, or just relax in your room whilst watching the ferries go by our window.
