A truly impressive building dating from 1632, Llangoed Hall formerly known as Llangoed Castle, strikes an imposing picture in the Wye Valley near the village of Llyswen, in Mid Wales. Nythfa House is set in mature grounds on the edge of the Welsh market town of Brecon, less than 10 minutes walk away. This country house, designated non-smoking, offers 23 en-suite bedrooms, equipped with a hairdryer, clock radio and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. There is a social, friendly atmosphere in the country house, further encouraged as televisions and telephones are not provided in the bedrooms. Guests can enjoy the indoor heated swimming pool until 7pm or relax in the lounge, bar or the conservatory with access to the attractive gardens. A games room with table tennis and Nintendo Wii is available on some days or guests can enjoy a game of croquet on the lawn. Meals are served in an informal, friendly atmosphere at tables for up to ten guests. A three-course dinner is served at 7.00 to 7.30pm for a charge of 18 GBP per person. If you would like to dine at the country house please contact the house before 6pm to make your dinner reservation. A choice of full English or continental breakfast is offered. To allow you to make the most of your touring or walking holiday, a self-select picnic lunch can be provided for the small charge of 10 GBP per person. Free car parking is available. Please notify the country house in advance if you intend to arrive after 10.30pm. Bedrooms are available from 2.30pm on the day of arrival and should be vacated by 10.00am on the day of departure. This country house’s location on the edge of Brecon, within easy reach of the National Park’s many fine walking areas, makes it an excellent base for those on an activity or walking holiday. Other nearby tourist attractions include the Brecon mountain steam railway, Cyfarthfa castle, Hereford and Cardiff.

There is one room on the ground floor with an adapted bathroom, this room is suitable for those having difficulty with stairs. Being in the middle of a National Park and surrounded by farmland, the hotel has access to some especially good meat, lamb and beef in particular. The hotel has earned an AA rosette for its cooking for the 8th year in a row. Most of the dinner menu is changed daily, and offers a choice of 5 starters, mains and desserts and there is always a vegetarian option. With priory notice most diets will be catered for. Gliffaes is perfect for those wishing to organise small board meetings, conferences, team building events or staff training, well away from the distraction of a city centre or a busy motorway junction an ideal location to meet and explore the 35 acres of grounds. The hotel is privately run by a dedicated family team who make it their business to understand guest’s wishes. The venue is quiet and peaceful all year round and is quite conveniently accessible.
