A stunning backdrop which Teresa Milsom has used to display her interior design which takes its inspiration from and reflects the ambience, character and charm of the Victorian era. Attractive patterned wallpapers, engravings and prints, heavy drapes, old fireplaces and large porcelain table lamps mix with contemporary fabrics, soft muted tones, modern lighting and bathrooms to create a sophisticated yet rich, classic look at this luxury hotel in Cumbria. Marton House situated in the delightful village of Long Marton just a 5 minute drive from the A66 is a family run luxury B&B in the heart of the Eden Valley close to the Lake District yet within easy access of all main routes. The house designed by Ignatius Bonomi sits within 6 acres of delightful gardens and boasts many specialist trees and shrubs plus a croquet lawn for anyone wanting a little gentle exercise! The house decorated to an extremely high standard has four en-suite bedrooms all enjoying outstanding views of the Lake District and the hills of the northern Pennine range where we are within easy reach of the Lady Anne Clifford walk to name just one of the many delightful walks in the area. The Settle to Carlisle railway can be picked up at Appleby where the old steam train runs regularily. There are several excellant Golf courses both in Appleby and Penrith and the surrounding area. Game and Clay pidgeon shooting is also a popular sport in the area . There are also many good hostelries one of the best being in our own village just an easy stroll away! Situated in the village of Nateby just a mile south of Kirkby Stephen, the Black Bull Inn can be found in the centre of the Village, directly opposite the road leading to Swaledale. The hotel is easily reached from either the M6 or the A66, and is ideally placed for exploring the Eden Valley and also the Yorkshire Dales & Lake District National Parks. Popular with both locals and tourists the Black Bull Inn has good reputation for food. All of our meals are freshly prepared to order from local suppliers wherever possible. Guests may choose to eat in either the restaurant or our bar area. Food & drink is served daily between 12-2 lunchtime and 6-9 evenings, with the addition of Saturday and Sunday when the bar is open all day. We have a traditional well stocked bar with great wines, real ales, malt whiskies and liqueurs.Sit and relax with your drink in front of the log burning fire, with no jukebox, video games or wide screen televisions to disturb you, just friendly conversation and the occaisional rattle of dominoes from the locals table. The Black Bull has four double bedrooms and one twin/familyroom, all with en-suite. Our accommodation has a television, hair drying & tea/coffee making facilities. Pets are welcome on prior arrangement. The English Tourist board has once again awarded us FOUR stars for our excellent accommodation and hospitality, we are both cyclists and walkers friendly.

Brownber Hall Country House is a quiet retreat offering excellent AA 4-star guest accommodation. It is the only accommodation in the area with a lift. Guests are assured of a warm welcome and a peaceful and relaxing stay. The hall is set amid beautiful rolling countryside near the village of Newbiggin-on-Lune, near Kirkby Stephen, in Cumbria. It is well away from the nearest main road with off-road parking available. Check-in time is 5-9pm but if you wish to arrive outside these hours please contact us and we will do our best to meet your wishes. Brownber Hall is not licensed to sell alcohol but you are welcome to bring your own. We do not have a restaurant but will provide meals by arrangement. There are pub restaurants in the nearby village of Ravenstonedale. Brownber Hall enjoys a unique and wonderful location.
