It is set in the peaceful village of Meikleour within a short quiet drive of both Blairgowrie and Perth. Today it is still popular with country sportsmen and women who travel from a far to enjoy the hotel’s comforts, & facilities. The Meikleour Hotel has an excellent reputation for its food, which is endorsed by many locals travelling for meals especially at weekends, whether bar meals or in the restaurant. The Perthshire Advertiser’s ‘Lady who Lunches’ endorsed this writing: “The Ivy-clad Meikleour Hotel is a popular rural hideaway, reminiscent of a classic English country pub, turned out superior bistro-style meals, including fish encased in batter handmade with spring water, or beef pie flavoured with the hotel’s own Perth-brewed Lure of Meikleour ale.” She went on “The lounge area was jam-packed with couples and families but the wooden tables, oldie worlde windows, traditional flagstones and stone walls and fishing paraphernalia in the adjacent bar made for a pleasant alternative.” 29th July 2008 The five bedroomed Meikleour Hotel is owned and run by Kia & Andrew Matheson who take care to pay attention to every detail to ensure the hotel runs like a well oiled engine. Classed as a 4 Star Inn by Visit Scotland. Best described as Scotland’s equivalent to a good English Inn.
