The Lamb began trading as a public house probably as early as the 12th Century. By 1870 it was already well established as a posting inn that supplied 300 post horses for coaches going to and from London and the West Country. To this day the building retains plenty of its original character and features including inglenook fireplaces, flag stone floors and heavy wooden beams. Inside you will find the Dining Room, the Whisky & Cigar Bar, the Sitting Room and the Meeting Room as well as twenty individually furnished bedrooms. The lodge has 23 newly refurbished bedrooms, all featuring en suite bathrooms with bath and power shower. The lodge is completely non-smoking. We have five ground floor bedrooms and all bedrooms have new hypnos beds and bespoke walnut furniture; indeed a tranquil haven in the centre of a vibrant city. However, there is an abundnace of bars and restaurants that can be found nearby.
