A bed and breakfast accommodation in Boscastle has been named as one of the top 100 finest places to stay in England, according to the website thisiscornwall.co.uk.

Sally and Chris Searle, a husband and wife team who run The Old Rectory at St Juliot, were invited to enter their business's details into the accommodation list by tourism company Enjoy England.

Speaking to the local news website, Ms Searle said: "It is a special place to come. At the end of the garden there is an observation deck with views down the Valency Valley and out to sea."

The B&B is ranked at five stars by the English Tourism Council, and has won the gold award for the seventh year running. Additionally, it was awarded the new gold Green Tourism Business Scheme this year.

Built in 1847, the accommodation is steeped in history and literature. Writer Thomas Hardy stayed in the building when he was working as an architect, and fell in love with Emma Lavinia Gifford, whom he later married and wrote many poems on. ADNFCR-1180-ID-18295555-ADNFCR
