The Lake District is to take part in a new campaign to get the UK drawing again, according to the Westmoreland Gazette.

Called the Big Draw, it hopes to encourage people to get involved by holding numerous events at museums, art galleries, town halls, castles and schools over the month of October.

Some of the events involved include helping create a gigantic underwater picture at the Aquarium of the Lakes, making a floor mural of animals and mythical creatures at the Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery at Carlisle, and numerous lessons on how to draw various difficult objects at the Cumberland Pencil Museum, in Keswick.

Director of the Campaign for Drawing, Sue Grayson, said to the Westmoreland Gazette: "This year's Big Draw is going to be bigger and better than ever before. We have over 1,000 events taking place across the UK and over half a million people expected to take part. Never have there been so many opportunities to get drawing!"

It is hoped that this campaign will help remove the words, "I can't draw" from the national collective. ADNFCR-1180-ID-18291963-ADNFCR
