Oxfordshire celebrates Cheese Festival
28th Sep 2007This weekend, cheese lovers from around the UK will be expected to gather at Oxfordshire's Frilford for the eighth annual Great British Cheese Festival.
As well as hundreds of types of cheese available for purchase, Millets Farm will be host to several cheese-related events and festivities.
Particularly noteworthy competitions include cheese tossing and cheese skittles, where festival-goers will be tested on their mettle and ability to throw and aim cheese.
There will also be a prize-giving awards ceremony for the 120 best cheeses in the country.
People will also be able to see how cheese is made, as well as classes on how to cheese beverages that complement your cheese.
Creator of the festival Juliet Burdett said to the website thisisoxfordshire.co.uk: "The great thing about them is because it is an event you go along to because you like the product, some of the tastings are quite interesting and complex.
"It really is for the cheese lover and the curious."
The festival is to run through the weekend.
