For those heading to the Devon area with a penchant for knitting, you can now visit the recently reopened knitted house in Bideford.

Stitched together by knitting enthusiast Alison Murray, the 140 square foot life-sized house has had hundreds of women around the world pulling out their knitting needles to contribute to the building.

Named the Gingerbread House, almost everything in the abode is knitted, from the beds to the fairy cakes and teapot on the knitted table. There is even a knitted garden with knitted flowers outside.

The house had to be closed down recently due to fears that it was a fire hazard, but now it is fireproofed and ready to return to Devon.

Ms Murray said that she was shocked when she was first told to demolish the house, but it is now back to raise even more money for charity. When the house was first constructed, it raised £10,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The Gingerbread House is to be exhibited at the three-day Creative Stitches and Hobbycrafts Show at the Westpoint Arena near Exeter.ADNFCR-1180-ID-18293617-ADNFCR
