Devonians welcome visitors and tourists
23rd Oct 2007The attractiveness of Devon in southeast England is threefold: natural, rugged coastlines buffered by inviting seaside villages and finally the inviting local communities, who say they enjoy the company of tourists.
A Community Attitudes Survey has revealed that 75 per cent of locals enjoyed meeting visitors to the area and 50 per cent thought that tourists brought more fun and liveliness to their towns, according to Express&Echo.
The area of Devon includes Dartmoor, Exeter, Plymouth, the English Riviera and the heart of Devon and tourists are able to find unique attractions in each area without having to travel too far.
Almost every area of Devon offers miles of footpaths and watersports of any kind, including sailing, windsurfing and fishing. Visitors can also choose from castles, large estates, gardens and golfing for a more relaxed stay.
To visit the area's locals in family-style accommodation, bed and breakfasts such as the Lower Yelland Farm in Barnstaple, Devon offer bicycle rentals to tour the coastal foot and cycle paths and even allow people to bring along their dogs to the farm.
