Hipping Hall in Lancashire named in Britain's 'Top Ten Hotels'

The Good Hotel Guide of 2007 has named Hipping Hall of Lancashire the best of its kind for style, service and food.

The Good Hotel Guide, which focuses on small, family-run bed and breakfasts and hotels, gives out annual awards for categories such as the Best London Hotel and the Restaurant with Rooms Award of the Year.

According to the guide, there has been a "cool and contemporary" makeover of the 17th century house and it is clear that the appeal of the Lancashire area is becoming an increasingly stylish region to visit.

Located just outside the Lake District's national park, the Lancashire area is an ideal location for visitors who may want to visit the open wilderness while being close to modern amenities.

Local attractions for the area include the Lancaster Castle, which is one of Europe's longest-running prisons, and an array of unique museums, including the Judges' Lodgings Museum, which was once home to the famous witch-hunter and keeper of Lancaster Castle, Thomas Covell.
