Lake District to 're-modernise' accommodation
22nd Oct 2007The Lake District, considered to be the adventurer's playground and the nature centre of England, is revamping its hotels, bed and breakfasts and guest houses to appeal to those who want luxury as well as rustic accommodation.
The Windermere region hosted its first Interiors Show to give 3,000 local tourism businesses an estimated £12 million boost at the end of its season and to give visitors an excellent reason to head to the region to holiday in style.
The event is the first time that manufacturers in the interior decorating sector are selling directly to businesses in the Lake District area, according to president of the event organisers Chris Gabbott, further highlighting the area's importance in UK tourism.
In addition to award-winning accommodation found throughout the Lake District, families and groups planning a stay in the region are offered one-of-a-kind accommodation set in wild and rustic landscapes.
For those who want to taste a bit of the modern amidst a backdrop of mountaintops and glassy lakes, The Samling Hotel offers views above the Windermere Lake in a modern setting.
Set in its own 67 acre estate, tourists can enjoy modern furnishings in traditional housing that includes a restaurant and its own cellar for late night drinks.
