In order to highlight the region's famous food and drink heritage, Lancashire and the Blackpool Tourist Board have announced the launch of a region-wide festival to host its local foods.

Visitors who relish Lancashire hotpot, Morecambe Bay potted shrimps, Lancashire cheese, black pudding, Pendle Witches brew and Sarsaparilla need not travel further than Lancashire to satisfy their tastebuds.

The much anticipated event is ideal for families and groups heading outdoors and through the region next year who want to participate in different food and drink festivals and other foodie and special gourmet events.

Lancashire's event will see Loyd Grossman, former host of BBC TV's Masterchef as its Patron of Taste while the world's biggest Lancashire hotpot was created, using ingredients from ITV's Coronation Street originally dating from 1936.

The price conscious traveller will enjoy plenty of affordable and scenic accommodation around the area such as the Long Eaton Hotel in the North Shore area of Blackpool that features en-suite bedrooms and full access to local dining and attractions.
