Oyster festival in Cornwall
Seaside visits to the historic town of Cornwall do not always have to involve surfing and beaches, as long as you're a seafood lover.
The popular Oyster Festival in Cornwall will be underway throughout this weekend as a way to enjoy the local Falmouth Bay oysters as well as other seafood dishes and even get the little ones involved in special 'oyster' competitions.
Children can enjoy shell painting and colouring competitions, an oyster treasure hunt and workshops in the local maritime museum and Falmouth Art Gallery centred around a maritime theme.
The festival, which kicked off today, will host a variety of local restaurant fare and a town parade to top the events off.
For families who want to make a weekend of the foodie festival, self-catering options that accommodate up to four people such as the Melvill Court Apartments, offer two bedrooms and two bathrooms apartments with sea views and a 15 minute walk to the shops of Falmouth.
