Relive history of the Thames River
19th Oct 2007History and environmental buffs can explore the history of the Thames River through photographs from the 1870s up to today that explain the social and physical transformation of the river that has shaped England and defines the city of London.
Located in south Oxfordshire's River and Rowing Museum, visitors can examine the environmental changes that have affected the land both positively and negatively through 'then and now' pictures taken by Henry Taunt, a renowned Victorian era photographer, and by Robins and Diprose more recently.
Families travelling along the Thames will find this exhibition located conveniently on the river and children can see how the land changed through photographs taken at exact spots along the river as they were in the 1800s, showing over 100 years' change in the land.
Visitors to the Oxford area can find accommodation along the Thames and can watch the houseboats and wildlife that abounds along the river.
Comfortable and shady locations such as the River Hotel sit right on the river and can have easy access to the city centre and all rail and bus stations.
