Ribble Valley to be 'foodie' centre

Food experts are converging on Lancashire county's Ribble Valley Borough to find the area's best food producers, restaurants and retailers in order to highlight the area as a premier UK foodie trail for those staying at accommodation in the area.

Located near Blackpool, the area's superior range of food and dining options have attracted panellists such as award-winning, local restaurateur Nigel Haworth, who specialises in the local Lancashire cuisine.

The Ribble Valley Food Trail will provide tourists with a series of maps to guide them around the area's best food spots, with villages offering accommodation such as Dunsop Bridge, Chipping, Whitewell and Slaidburn.

The area's food trail, which will be launched early 2008, will highlight Ribble Valley as part of Lancashire's larger Taste Lancashire 2008, a year-long event for food lovers to enjoy events and promotions surrounding the county's unique foods.

For the exploring visitor, travel to the town of Dunsop Bridge, which is officially named the very centre of the British Isles, and sample its out-of-the way food, accommodation and attractions such as the 46-mile walk passing medieval castles and churches.
