Visit 'Britain's Favourite View' in Wastwater, Cumbria
Wastwater Lake, which sits right in the heart of one of England's favourite tourism spots in Cumbria's revered Lake District, has been awarded the accolade of "Britain's Favourite View" by the ITV show of the similar name.
Located in the Wasdale Valley and nearly three miles long, almost half a mile wide and 258 feet deep, the lake's beauty also reflects England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike, at a height of 3,210 feet.
Protected by the National Trust, this area is a favourite spot for tourists who want to hike through unspoiled and remote valleys at one of the country's premier scenic areas.
Whether it's an extreme adventure in the wilderness or a quiet place to reflect and relax, visitors can find both with small towns dotted along the lakes convenient for lodging or simply for refuelling on a long hike.
For a relaxing spot right along Wastwater Lake, visitors can stay in private, self-catered cottages such as the Hallflat Farm Cottages, which can sleep up to eight people and are situated upon seven acres of land.
