England's south-west Cornwall is famous for its surf culture, yet the trend for parents and older generations to take up surfing here is making the area a haven for every type of surf fanatic.

Considered to be a mainstream sport now in Cornwall "as people begin to realise that the biggest ocean swells hit our coasts not in summer, but in autumn and winter" as well according to the Times, travellers to the region who want to try a new sport can find fun-loving surfing schools and equally relaxed accommodation for an energetic winter getaway.

The town of St Agnes has for years been the national surf capital and for families or groups of friends who want to visit the area for surf or simply its coastal atmosphere, there are many outdoor attractions such as the walks along the cliffs and the area's mining history that will keep everyone intrigued.

Affordable accommodation is available right on the coast overlooking the sea for those who want a constant view of the water. The Driftwood Spars Hotel is such a place where visitors can enjoy quality rooms with a restaurant and weekly bands for lively evenings.

The building also describes some of the area's maritime history with beams of three ships that wrecked on its shores in Trevaunance cove and will be a fun stay for anyone who loves the coastal lifestyle.
