Cornwall's eco-friendly accommodation meets increasing demand
14th Nov 2007With forty per cent of travellers from the UK and the US wanting to stay in hotels that promote environmentally friendly standards, Cornwall in the south-west continues to impress as one of the UK's leaders in green tourism.
The Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) has handed out gold awards to businesses across the UK who have excelled in this area with some of Cornwall's bed and breakfasts winning the top awards.
Visitors can visit the Blueseas Hotel in Penzance, Cornwall, that has accepted one of these gold awards for its success in using local produce, using only renewable-sourced electricity and gas and reducing its water intake.
In addition to the south-west's prominence in the area of green tourism, the local scenery shows businesses and tourists the fruits of protecting the environment as they can visit the coast in minutes as well as hike through the lush countryside.
The Blueseas Hotel is a prime example of the affordable accommodation available for families or small travelling groups with views of Mount's Bay with easy routes to the Penzance town centre.
