The Kendal Mountain Festival in Cumbria will highlight the region's internationally-loved mountain sports and culture that has drawn people to its regions for decades.

Over 250 films and up to 75 guest speakers will attend this two week event that also includes a book and literature festival for visitors to the area looking for educational entertainment while vacationing in the Cumbria area.

Among the events is the 48-hour Film Marathon, where attendees will be asked to make a two-minute film on an adventure or subject related to the mountains in the Lake District in just 48 hours. Guests to the area will love this hands-on event that allows a sneak peek into the area's history, culture and rugged wilderness from a unique vantage point.

Families and groups looking to stay around the event's location near Kendal, which is in the middle of the Lake District National Park, can look forward to many bed and breakfasts spread throughout the area for a quiet stay within the park. Try the Balcony House Bed and Breakfast in Kendal, where travellers can book a family room for several people and enjoy a traditional English breakfast each morning.
