It looks like some of the Lake District's top hotels will be in demand in the forthcoming year as recent research shows Britons are increasingly looking for a holiday of a different class.

Nearly nine out of ten Britons say that an official quality guarantee is an important factor when they go about choosing their holiday accommodation.

Speaking at a recent meeting of Cumbria Tourism's commercial members in Bowness on Windermere, Jeremy Brinkworth from VisitBritain said that ensuring quality is a key consideration for 2008, the News and Star reports.

This is good news as hotels, B&Bs and self-catering accommodation in the Lake District are already taking huge steps to modernise and renovate to attract more visitors.

The Lake District is a popular holiday favourite among millions of people around the world - made famous for its stunning glacially-formed landscapes and links to literary figures including poet William Wordsworth and children's author Beatrix Potter.
