Britain best for B&Bs

A bed and breakfast in Cornwall has been voted one of the best in the world.

Coswarth house in Padstow has earned the accolade of the sixth best 'hidden gem' in Europe.

The Victorian property, with its sea views and peaceful veranda, is also the eighth best in the whole world, according to TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice awards.

Visitors to the B&B described their experiences, which include use of a massage therapist, as 'exquisite' and 'beyond expectations'.

Michele Perry, director of communications for TripAdvisor, explained that the winning accommodation achieved success through "great service and extraordinary value".

"Determined by millions of real travellers, the Travellers' Choice award winners raise the bar for hotels around the world, with their exceptional properties and great staff that enhance the overall travel experience," she added.

The Cottage in the Wood Country Hotel in Keswick, Cumbria, was singled out as the seventh best bargain hotel in Europe.
