Edinburgh's bid to be on the board
Visitors to Edinburgh are being urged to vote for the city to be included in a worldwide version of Monopoly.
The Scottish capital could be part of a new global edition of the classic board game if it is chosen out of 22 cities that have made the finals.
People are now being called on to vote daily for their favourite ten cities before the deadline of February 28th, when ballots will close.
National tourism association VisitScotland hopes that the game will put Edinburgh on the map, as well as the board.
Speaking to the BBC, VisitScotland's marketing manager for Edinburgh and Lothians, Kathryn Macdonald, described the contest as a "fantastic opportunity" for the city.
"Edinburgh is a destination loved, not just by its residents, but by visitors from across the UK and the rest of the world who come to enjoy the city's iconic festivals and attractions, stunning architecture and vibrant bars and restaurants," she said.
While the classic monopoly board has its top-class hotels along Mayfair and Park Lane, Edinburgh also has its fair share of quality accommodation, from luxury hotels to comfy B&Bs and self-catering cottages.
