Wordsworth on the web
The Lake District's link with William Wordsworth is a huge draw for thousands of visitors choosing to stay in the area's many B&Bs every year.
Now fans of the poet's works can view many of them online as part of a new project, the News and Star reports.
Lake District art work and more than 60,000 manuscripts are to go online on a new website www.wordsworth.org.uk, in conjunction with the Wordsworth trust, based in Grasmere.
The site also contains information about Wordsworth's home, Dove Cottage, as well as events, poetry readings and exhibitions.
Commenting on the site, David Wilson, the Robert Woof director of the Wordsworth Trust, told the newspaper: "We wanted to let more people see the range and depth of the items we hold here, all of which are available for research."
The village of Grasmere, the home of William Wordsworth, is well worth a visit for its literary heritage as well as a gentle walk around its lake, lined with daffodils during the spring months.
Visitors to the village should also indulge in Sarah Nelson's original celebrated Grasmere gingerbread, bought from Grasmere's legendary 16th century Gingerbread shop - as recommended by many celebrity chefs including Jamie Oliver.
