The UK may currently be experiencing 85mph winds, storms and rain but the days are getting noticeably longer, meaning only one thing - summer beach holidays in Cornwall are just around the corner.

Visitors to Cornwall's many B&Bs on the look out for the county's best beaches are in the right place - the Times has recently named Cornwall's coasts as some of top ten in the world.

While Bali and Barbados are "pretty enough", the newspaper's reviewer Stephen Bleach says that Cornwall offers "secret coves, craggy cliffs, soft sand, proper rock pools and spooky caves" to delight the whole family.

Beachgoers should look out for signposts to Porthcurno off the B3315, eight miles from Penzance which offers arguably the best example of a beautiful Cornish beach.

With a cafe selling buckets and spades on the way down to the beach, families can spend a whole day making sandcastles and enjoying the waves.

Meanwhile, the open-air Minack Theatre set on a cliff top above the cove presents insightful theatrical spectacles throughout the summer.

The beach comes complete with a glowing recommendation from Mr Bleach who describes it as nature's "perfect playground".
