Travelling to self-catering accommodation in Cornwall is about to get much easier, thanks to the announcement of new flights linking the county with much of the UK.

Low-cost carrier Flybe is to start flights from Birmingham to Cornwall on April 1st, allowing people to get from the Midlands to the coast in under an hour.

The news follows predictions of a bumper summer this year for low-fare regional airline Air Southwest, which has announced new routes between Glasgow and Newcastle as well as the reintroduction of flights to Cork.

Newquay Cornwall Airport has gone from strength to strength since the roots of the current airport were laid down in 1934.

In 2006, the airport has unveiled a new extension to the existing passenger terminal including security and safety improvements and a bigger car park.

Improvements in transport links to Cornwall are improving constantly allowing surfers, nature lovers, families and couples to start their holidays almost as soon as they leave home.
