Self-catering accommodation in the UK is in a constant state of evolution as more and more holidaymakers expect a home-from-home experience on their holiday, it has been claimed.

According to the Daily Telegraph, "the holiday rental scene is changing - and fast", with thousands of quality holiday accommodation options to choose from in the UK.

Speaking to the newspaper, Nick House, founder of the Wow House Company, explained that many self-catering properties now offer all the mod-cons one would expect to find in their own home, and much more besides.

This has been augmented by the fact that people are spending more money on doing up decor in their own homes which has pushed standards up.

"Standards are improving all the time," he said, "People expect privacy and comfort and will pay a premium for it."

Pencalenick House in the fishing village of Fowey in Cornwall has been identified as one of the most indulgent places to stay in the UK.

With two chefs, a butler, waiter, masseuse, house manager, cleaner and skipper for a 1930s motor boat docked on the accommodation's own private beach, this modern self-catering accommodation sleeps up to 18 people.

Popular with celebrities including Ulrika Johnson and Mariella Fostrup, the newly-launched self-catering pad is a true example of the seemingly limitless luxury now available in the self-catering sector.
