The stricken Riverdance ferry has become an unusual tourist attraction for guests of Blackpool B&Bs and has now featured in a pop video.

German band Fotos chose the site to film a video for their song Explosions after the director saw the wreck on the internet.

The band loved the idea of appearing in front of the ship and, after securing permission from the Blackpool tourist board, shot the video yesterday near Cleveleys Beach.

Irish Sea ferry Riverdance grounded off the coast of Blackpool on January 31st before coming to rest at a 70 degree angle by late February.

Mike Chadwick, from Blackpool Tourism, told the Blackpool Gazette that "Blackpool has been the setting for several pop videos over the years, including Simply Red and Robbie Williams".

"It just shows as well how famous Riverdance has become – making it into the world of pop," he added.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency has said that there has been no progress in the proposed programme to dismantle the wreck.

This is good news for people staying in a Blackpool B&B who wish to visit this curious tourist attraction.
