Cornwall B&B: Jamie Oliver's Cornish restaurant voted top Taste of England
25th Apr 2008The Cornish branch of Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant chain has been voted a 'Taste of England' in a recent awards ceremony.
Enjoy England bestowed the Award of Excellence on the restaurant which has become a favourite place to visit among families staying in a Cornwall B&B.
Based at Watergate Bay, close to the surfing town of Newquay, Fifteen was praised by the judges for both using local produce and helping disadvantaged young people.
Mr Oliver created the Fifteen chain as part of a 2002 television series entitled Jamie's kitchen, where he employed 15 young people to work in his kitchen.
Many of the young aspiring chefs had learning difficulties or had been homeless, but Mr Oliver trained them to be professional chefs.
The original Fifteen restaurant is located in Hoxton, London, but there are also branches in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Melbourne, Australia.
Equally, a fifth restaurant is rumoured to be opening in Leeds, Yorkshire, in 2009.
As all the restaurant's profits go to charity, many people staying in a Cornwall B&B have enjoyed eating good food at Fifteen and supporting a good cause at the same time.
