Cornwall B&Bs: Surf's up in Bude

Surfers from all over the UK are set to descend on Cornwall B&Bs next month as the north coast plays host to the Bude Surf Classic 2008.

Organised by Surf Sport Bude and run by Christian Surfers UK, the event will take place at Widemouth Bay on the weekend of May 10th and 11th, Global Surf News reports.

Hundreds of people have already picked up their entry forms to compete in the event which offers a £200 cash prize to the winner of the Men's Open Division event as well as £100 for the victor of the Longboard division.

Registration on the day will take place at 8:30am, with heats kicking off at 9:15am.

Should the surf fail to co-operate on the day there will be beach games and paddle races to keep everyone entertained.

Meanwhile, the charity Tsunami Surf Relief UK will be holding a raffle throughout the day.

Surf lessons will also be running through the contest for surfers of all ages and abilities.

This year's event is being sponsored by Gecko, Surf Relief, North Shore Backpackers and Raven Surf School.
