Cornwall self-catering: Sun festival hots up

Groups of friends planning a trip to Cornwall next month should check out Europe's largest custom car, VW and dance festival.

Set to attract thousands of people, Run to the Sun is a three-day event taking place from May 23rd to May 26th.

Spread over two sites in Newquay at the Trevelgue Holiday Park in Newquay, the start of the event is heralded by a cruise of VW and custom cars from Helston service station to the festival site.

Attracting more than 1,000 cars, the cruise is truly a spectacular sight as a line of traffic over eight kilometres long travels to the festival site.

A main arena offers festival-goers three nights of live entertainment, DJs and performers, with past acts including Freestylers, Lisa Lashes, John Digweed and Timo Maas.

Meanwhile, a chill out tent provides livebands, chilled out beats and stand up comedy.

The festival's location means that festival-goers can also keep a toe in the water, as Newquay's famous Fistral beach is just a stone's throw away for a morning or evening surfing session.
