Literature lovers heading to Cornwall next month can find out more about one of the UK's best-loved novelists thanks to a unique festival.

The Daphne du Maurier Festival of Arts and Literature, taking place on Cornwall's south coast from May 8th to May 17th, celebrates the life and works of the author and playwright who lived in Cornwall for much of her life

Now in its twelfth year, the event is being held in and around the beautiful town of Fowey which sits on a picturesque natural harbour attracting up to 7,000 visiting yachts per season.

Funded and co-ordinated by Restormal Borough Council, the festival features an impressive list of guest speakers and celebrities including Googlewhack author Dave Gorman, poet Pam Ayres and musician Rick Wakeman.

Guided walks, boat trips, plays, concerts and talks in Fowey and the wider area are just a few of the hundreds of events planned for the ten-day event.

Although she died in 1989, du Maurier's greatest legacy is thought by many to be her 1938 novel Rebecca, adapted for stage and screen on numerous occasions.

Accommodation during the festival gets booked up very quickly, so guests to Cornwall are advised to book self-catering accommodation as soon as possible.
