Bird-loving guests of a Cumbria B&B are flocking to see the ospreys nesting in the beautiful Western Lake District in the county.

The osprey is UK's fourth rarest bird of prey and these are the first to breed in the Lake District for over 150 years.

In excess of 500,000 people have already visited the rare site at Bessenthwaite Lake, largely thanks to the creation of a specialist osprey bus service.

With the help of lottery funding, the bus now runs regular tours from the near-by town of Keswick, and also takes in the Whinlatter Exhibition and the viewpoint at Dodd View.

Running six times daily, the bus operates on a hail-and-ride basis and also has a cycle rack for any bike enthusiasts.

Visitors can hire high-powered binoculars to view the birds, and there is also a picnic site, assault course, mountain bike trail and forest walks available for visitors.

All points indicate that the ospreys will continue to delight guests at a Cumbria B&B.
