Cumbria B&B: Status Quo head to Whitehaven
21st May 2008Rock fans staying at a Cumbria B&B will be looking forward to watching legendary group Status Quo when they arrive at Whitehaven this summer.
The concert will occur at the town's rugby league stadium on August 2nd to mark the 60th anniversary of the sports venue.
Status Quo have been successful for over half a century and sold over 118 million records worldwide.
The band's 63 hit singles, including Whatever You Want and Rockin All Over the World, is the greatest amount for any band and 32 hit albums is beaten only by the Rolling Stones.
Gerard Richardson, the concert promoter, told the BBC that he had been "in love with the Quo from the day I developed ears".
"They were our prime choice for the event and I'm simply delighted that they have agreed to play the gig."
"I could talk all day about them but this is five decades of legendary entertainment that we're bringing to town and it's likely to be the best party that Cumbria has ever seen," he added.
Tickets are already selling quickly so anyone planning to stay at a Cumbria B&B and see the concert should act quickly to experience the gig.
