Guests at Oxfordshire B&Bs will once more be able to visit a popular Oxford pub as it is set to be rebuilt following a devastating fire last year.

The Perch in Binsey caught fire on May 8th after a chimney flue malfunctioned and turned the thatched roof into an inferno.

Around 80 fire-fighters struggled to save the 17th century public house, which had previously experienced a blaze almost thirty years ago.

The roof was destroyed and the interior suffered heavy damage but work to restore the building to its former glory started in January.

Johnny Mignon, the pub manager, told thisisoxfordshire.co.uk that he hoped to open the venue at the start of July.

"Once the thatching has been completed, we will focus more on the pub's interior but I am confident that the work will be finished on schedule."

"It's beautiful weather at the moment, so all the staff are looking forward to having the pub open again at the centre of the village," he added.

Mr Mignon plans to run a fete on July 20th to celebrate the pub's re-opening, which will no doubt prove a major attraction for people staying at an Oxfordshire B&B.
