Cumbria B&B: Adventurous plans afoot for Cumbria tourism
27th Jun 2008Cumbrian tourism chiefs met yesterday to discuss exciting new plans to make Cumbria the UK's capital of adventure holidays.
Delegates from government, academia and tourism agencies outlined plans to make the most of Cumbria's fantastic scenery and outdoor pursuits.
It is hoped that becoming the UK's adventure capital could have the same invigorating effect as the Capital of Culture status recently did for Liverpool.
Guests staying at a Cumbria B&B have known for a long time about the incredible outdoor activities available in the Lake District and across the county.
Sheona Southern, Cumbria Tourism's marketing director, revealed that they have been working on Year of Adventure plans for 2008.
"[This] includes Keswick Mountain Festival and events like Coniston Water Festival and the Great North Swim among others."
"Building on the Year of Adventure, partners will be challenged to create the right quality product offer to ensure Cumbria can rightly claim Adventure Capital UK status," she added.
Walking in Kendal Mountain Forest or the Great North Swim in Lake Windermere are just two examples of outdoor adventures available to people staying at a Cumbria B&B.
