Those of proud Scottish blood resident around the world may hear the call to home ring louder over the coming months as efforts increase to promote the Year Long Homecoming.

VisitScotland is encouraging anyone with either roots in the country or a passion for the glens to return to Scottish shores between Burns Night, January 24th, and November 30th 2009.

Burns Night and the Burns supper next year will also mark the 250th anniversary of the poet's birth, kicking off several months of diverse celebrations across the country including the likes of National Whisky Month in May and the Clan Gathering on July 25th and 26th.

Organisers direct anyone interested in planning a trip to the country to the newly refurbished ancestralscotland.com, where a travel itinerary and information on hotels and other accommodation can be gathered.

Burns aside, the celebrations will focus on many of the other gifts Scotland has given to the world community, including whisky, golf, and Great Scottish innovations and minds.ADNFCR-1180-ID-18621422-ADNFCR
