Guests staying at a Blackpool B&B on Friday viewed the creation of a gigantic piece of Disney artwork on Blackpool beach.

The huge sand picture of Sulley from Monsters Inc was commissioned by Disney's Cinemagic television channel.

A team of ten artists from Huddersfield started working at 04:00 BST to create the 40,000 square foot depiction of the blue and green monster from the hit animated movie.

They finished what is believed to be the largest piece of beach art ever created in the UK at 08:30 but by 10: 30 the entire thing had been engulfed by the advancing sea.

John Lundberg led the project and told the Blackpool Gazette that "we are really pleased with how the project went considering we only had a few hours to do it".

"Projects like this are tricky because the image looks very abstract from the ground, you just have to trust the numbers you've got and hope it will work out."

"Everybody worked really hard so we were really pleased with how it looked from the top of the Tower," he added.
