An exhibition of Rod Walker's work is set to go on display at the Trereife Art Gallery, which will offer a fantastic attraction for art-loving guests staying at a Cornwall B&B.

The collection of work celebrates the artist's three year period based at a workshop at the Trewidden Gardens.

He moved there after 25 years spent in a Penzance studio that he had to leave after it was earmarked for conversion into six flats.

Trewidden is one of the oldest gardens in Penzance and is an incredibly peaceful place with a pond, flowers and many winding paths.

Mr Walker told the BBC that he "spent three happy years painting at Trewidden" and that he would often stroll in the gardens to "absorb the tranquil atmosphere".

"The shapes and colours of the garden began to inform my painting creeping and seeping into the work like a tendril of ivy or a cloud of soft mist."

"I have now moved to yet another studio but many of the paintings in this exhibition are a celebration of my time at Trewidden," he added.

An exhibition by such a celebrated Cornish artist will no doubt prove a popular attraction for people staying at a Cornwall B&B.
