Ambitious plans for expansion are afoot at Exeter Airport which will create 2,000 jobs in the area and offer improved transport links for people travelling to stay at a Devon B&B.

After an order by the government, Exeter International Airport has unveiled its plans for expanding the airport complex.

By 2030, the number of people working at the airport is predicted to rise from 1,400 to around 3,550 as the level of traffic increases.

Airport executives intend to build a new runway, make significant improvements to the taxiways and also bring on new destinations to be serviced by the facility.

It is estimated that the airport's contribution to the local economy will also rise to around £264 million by 2030.

The plans, which include environmental clauses such as reducing noise and air pollution, will remain open to public debate for the next three months.
