The big screen has been installed at Plymouth which will offer people staying a Devon B&B the chance to watch the upcoming Beijing Olympics in the open air.

Based in the Piazza, the high-tech screen is 30 meters high and is the largest of eight screens being installed in cities around the UK.

It is due to go live during August in time for visitors to Plymouth to be able to watch events at the Beijing Olympics.

It will also play an important role in the build up to the London 2012 Olympics in terms of generating excitement and anticipation ahead of the Games.

David Draffen, managing director at Plymouth City Centre Company, told BBC Devon that this is a "huge coup for Plymouth as the only location south-west of Bristol to have a screen".

"It also gives us the potential to use the screen during the Plymouth Summer Festival and to build on the previous success of the Wimbledon screen," he added.

Aside from the Olympics, the screen will also offer guests staying at a Devon B&B the chance to access news and local information as well as replaying live events.
