Guests staying at an Oxfordshire B&B will be able to enjoy a brand new Oxford pub that pays homage to the history of comedy in the city.

Based on George Street, Wetherspoon pub the Four Candles takes its title from the famous sketch by Ronnie Corbett and Ronnie Barker.

Barker attended the City of Oxford School for Boys that is close to the location of the pub, which motivated the selection of the name.

Following its £400,000 refit, the Four Candles will be open until midnight from Sunday to Monday and until 1am Friday and Saturday as well as serve food all day.

Heath Curley, Wetherspoon's regional manager, told the Oxford Mail that "Wetherspoon has almost 700 pubs and they all have unique names that reflect their history".

"There will also be information boards and photos about Ronnie Barker displayed inside."

"We are delighted to have secured a venue in Oxford. We were very keen to open up a city centre pub and we will be looking for more in Oxford," he added.
