Blackpool B&B: Wedding bells ahead for the Tower
Marriage parties staying at Blackpool B&Bs may soon be making the journey to the lofty heights of the Blackpool Tower after officials at the attractions applied for a wedding license.
Plans are currently being considered by Blackpool council to allow people to get married at the top of the 518 foot Tower.
Officials from Leisure Parcs, which owns the Tower, indicated that this new initiative is due to a growing amount of people wishing to get married at the landmark.
Geoff Sage, Tower general manager, told the Blackpool Gazette that "we have applied for the wedding license for Tower Top due to the level of enquiries".
"We have to undergo various checks and procedures yet and there is no guarantee of it being granted but if it is we will have a waiting list as tall as the Tower itself," he added.
Couples staying at a Blackpool B&B can already get hitched at the 1,000 capacity Tower Ballroom which has an existing, fully approved license.
