Blackpool prepares to open the incredible visitor's Gateway
Work will begin next month on Blackpool's new Central Gateway which will deliver an incredible world-class entrance for people coming to stay at one of the resort's B&Bs.
The £1.8 million project will upgrade the Lonsdale car park and regenerate the Seasiders Way area, as well as create a new pedestrian plaza by Blackpool Football Club.
Developers are using high quality street furniture, paving and planting as part of the brand new corridor taking visitors into Blackpool.
Councillor Maxine Callow, Blackpool Council's cabinet member for regeneration and tourism, told the Blackpool Gazette that "the Central Corridor programme aims to create a first class gateway to the town from the M55 motorway".
"We want to create a distinctive image as visitors drive into Blackpool, a wow factor and a real sense of arrival," she added.
The project is mirrored by a £13.5 million project to build two 20-meter high climbing towers alongside a 650-berth car park in Blackpool which is due to open next year.
